BOZEMAN, Mont. -- TechLink and the Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC) of Dayton, Ohio, have entered into an agreement to work together to improve the quality and quantity of Department of Defense (DoD) technology transfer activities in Ohio and throughout the United States. Will Swearingen, Executive Director of TechLink, commented, “This agreement provides an opportunity for synergistic collaboration between our two organizations and plays on the core competencies and strengths of each in order to increase DoD technology transfer successes.” Both TechLink and EMTEC provide assistance to companies to accelerate the movement to market of technologies developed in Department of Defense laboratories. EMTEC is a non-profit organization serving the state of Ohio; TechLink works across the board with all DoD labs and companies nationwide. TechLink focuses on licensing the rights to DoD-developed technologies to companies in industries ranging from aerospace to biomedicine, advanced materials to software, and agriculture to electronics. EMTEC works primarily with materials technologies.
Under the agreement, EMTEC will provide a pool of available technology from the Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, and a roster of Ohio companies that are potential licensees of DoD technologies. EMTEC also will work within Ohio to promote DoD technologies from Army and Navy labs that TechLink has hand-selected for potential commercialization. TechLink will help the Ohio companies to license technologies and promote the available AFRL technologies nationwide. According to EMTEC President, Frank Svet, “This agreement provides Ohio manufacturers access to technology, not only from the Air Force Research Labs at Wright Patterson, but also from the Naval and Army research labs outside of Ohio.” About Edison Materials Technology Center The Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC) in Dayton, OH, is a non-profit, member-based organization serving Ohio and is committed to the mission of “…accelerating materials technology to the market…” With over 18 years experience in applied research management, commercial successes, startups, and spin-offs, EMTEC focuses on commercialization assistance for potentially high growth materials technology.
