Lee Cheatham

Lee Cheatham has served as the Executive Director of the Washington Technology Center (WTC) since 1998. The WTC is Washington’s statewide economic development organization focused on technology and innovation. During Lee’s tenure as director, the WTC has significantly expanded its interactions with companies and communities throughout Washington to foster and accelerate technology development and job growth. Prior to his position at WTC, Lee founded the Strategic Projects Group, a startup software and information services company. Previously, he held senior management positions with other organizations, including the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he was employed for 17 years. In all of his assignments, Lee has focused on innovation, collaboration, and technology-based economic development.
Lee received a doctorate in electrical engineering, with specialization in optical computing, from Carnegie-Mellon University. He also has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Washington State University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University.
