Daniel J. Dwyer is Vice President for Research and Development at the University of Montana (U of M) in Missoula. Dan works with multiple funding sources to identify faculty research opportunities, integrates research and education at the university, assists industry in gaining access to university research expertise, and helps to commercialize the university’s intellectual property.
Dan was Vice Provost for Research for New Mexico State University prior to joining U of M and previous to that was Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Laboratory for Surface Science and Technology at the University of Maine, where he spent the bulk of his career. He has authored over 60 scientific journal articles and has published a book. His research at the University of Maine attracted over $15 million in federal research support.
Dan holds a B.S. in chemistry from the State University of New York at Oswego, an M.S. in chemistry from Lehigh University, and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, also from Lehigh University.
